Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns any result. Oakland County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor sends an email, the message is retained for a response. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers receive technical information about that visit, including:
- The IP address assigned to the device
- The browser and its version
- The device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on each
- The referring site, if one exists
- Timestamps associated with page views
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that help show aggregate use patterns, such as heavily visited pages and exits. Analytics providers help compile that traffic information. Browser settings can block cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
Visitor information supports ordinary site operations and may be used to:
- Maintain availability, performance, and page loading
- Route a search request to the applicable partner service
- Evaluate which pages visitors use and which require improvement
- Find and correct technical problems
- Display advertising that may correspond to visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Oakland County Court Docket does not host, maintain, assemble, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case-record data. It provides general routing information for Oakland County records maintained by the Sixth Circuit, District Courts, Probate Court, and their custodians. Michigan court-file access is governed principally by MCR 8.119, including access, inspection, and reproduction, while protected personal information is addressed by MCR 1.109(D)(9). This private site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and does not compile visitor data into consumer reports or records about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed on this site. Information entered there is processed under the provider's privacy policy, not this policy. The provider sets its own retention and disclosure practices, which Oakland County Court Docket does not control. Review that provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links on this site may lead to clerk, court, statewide case-search, legal-aid, or third-party search services. A visitor who follows one leaves this site, and that destination's privacy policy governs the new visit. Review it before submitting personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across websites to deliver targeted advertising. That tracking occurs on their systems rather than on Oakland County Court Docket systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Oakland County Court Docket does not sell personal data. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Search partners that process a query submitted through the site
- Analytics providers used to measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place advertisements on pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to safeguard the information collected. No internet-connected system is fully secure, so this policy cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If such information is believed to have been submitted, it will be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Michigan's court-record framework is separate from this site's visitor-data practices. MCR 8.119 governs maintenance, inspection, and reproduction of court records. MCL 15.235 supplies a written-request and response framework for Michigan FOIA public-body requests, but judicial court records should be requested through the responsible court or clerk under the court-record rules. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Request a copy of information held about that visitor
- Ask that incorrect information be corrected
- Request deletion of information
- Opt out of selected forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date.
