- Probate case or certified order: direct the request to Oakland County Probate Court or its register, rather than Circuit Legal Records
- A statewide name or case-number check: search MiCOURT Case Search and confirm the result with the court that owns the file
- A hearing date: consult the court dates information, then verify the setting with the assigned court clerk
